Pro / Compress PDF

A lighter PDF, when possible.

Try lossless optimization before sending a large PDF. Dropshift reorganizes and compresses document data without deliberately lowering image resolution.

How to use Compress PDF

  1. Open Compress PDF in the extension and add your document.
  2. Confirm the upload and run lossless optimization.
  3. Download the smaller file when one can be produced. If the file cannot be reduced, Dropshift reports that without charging a successful operation.

A few useful details

The amount saved depends on how the original PDF was created. Documents with inefficient internal structures can improve; files that are already well optimized may not. This tool prioritizes keeping content intact over forcing a particular size.

What to know first

There is no guaranteed compression percentage or target file size. Image-heavy PDFs may not shrink much because this mode does not downsample images.

Pro uploads are limited to 50 MB per file and 50 PDF pages. OCR, including automatic OCR during conversion, is limited to 20 pages. Each successful file uses one operation. Review the current plan allowance before processing a batch.

Common questions

Will every PDF become smaller?

No. Some PDFs are already optimized. A result that is not smaller is treated as an unsuccessful conversion and does not consume quota.

Does compression reduce image resolution?

The current engine performs lossless optimization rather than deliberately downsampling images.
